Was asked for 15 pound deposit in case of damages.
A note left in room saying sorry shortstaff cannot clean room.
Told nearest station to hotel cambridge north but in fact it was cambridge central so cost extra 20 pound in taxi fare and 2 extra rains to catch costing extra 6 pound on fares.
We liked the look of hotel on line and near the river also eating a meal nearby the hotel the ambience of the hotel was clean and smart looking also the conservatory

The hotel is in a good location over looking the river, with adequate parking [ although expensive if not booked direct with the hotel].
The check in was rushed and very little information given. Young lady did not know about the Sunday lunch and parking offer, which was mentioned in the room.
The room was spacious but very dated and there was no shower above the bath. A jug was provided!
At breakfast we asked about gluten free options and was just told fruit was available, this was plentiful and very fresh but expected more for breakfast. Was then given the option of some toast, but this arrived as frozen bread. Upon request it was slightly toasted on one side and required doing again.
Large pots of decaf tea and coffee were provided upon request.
Some staff were very helpful and others not so.

I really liked the position. I enjoy walking and at the end of the day it was great to get out of the Centre, walk across the green and find the quiet of Arundel House. I also found the staff friendly and helpful and I was very glad to be able to have my evening meal in the restaurant of the hotel. The breakfast was good as well and included in the price of my room. My room was quiet and I had everything I needed, however really needed refurbishing. The bathroom in particular was a bit down at heel.

My single room was a reasonable size, clean with a comfortable bed but furniture and decor need a refurb. Staff were friendly and helpful and continental breakfast was OK, a little more choice would be good. The hotel is in a great position, opposite the river, close to the town centre and parking is a bonus.
I booked this small room at late notice at a very fair rate, although it was indeed small it suited me fine. It was perfectly situated for some work I was doing and importantly had parking (£18 a day extra for those not booking directly). Staff were kind and friendly, continental breakfast was included and tasty. All in all a happy stay in a quality hotel at a decent price.

The Arundel hotel is convenient to central Cambridge with good walking access to the colleges and shopping centre
It has a good outlook across the river Cam and Jesus Green
Sadly the hotel is tired and has not had a change in decor in many years
The staff were doing their best but there was a severe shortage of staff during my stay
There are many stairs to the bedrooms and down to the bar/restaurant area
difficult for anyone with limited mobility
Food menu much less a choice than when I stayed there before Covid
Overall clean basic convenient stay for what was needed
The room still had the bedding from the last customer and had not been cleaned. Very poor. They did not seem to be able to get the room cleaned! After an hour they finally allocated another room. While it was clean, it was very warm with no effective ventilation - terrible night, not much sleep :-(
While the parking spaces were normal sized, the car park was very tight making it hard to get out without clipping a wall or a car parked at the end of the row.
Avoid this hotel!

Our room had not been cleaned at 3pm. We then sat around waiting for another room only to have to decend a steep set of stairs, which i couldn't do due to the fact i use a walking stick. We then shown how to get in through fire exit, but that meant one of our group had to let us in as access by a fire door is not pissible.
A traditional but well-maintained hotel located in a place which is close to the Cambridge University. The buffet breakfast does not have too much selection, but is good enough. The staff were friendly and professional. Would definitly come back again.

It was a lovely old hotel but does have a problem with bugs getting in from the windows, the parking was convenient and its location was convenient and within walking distance from the university sights.
Property was fine for the price I paid of £60 through Expedia, bed was comfortable and on suite was adequate for the size of the room. Would stay again.

Really outdated, poor continental breakfast or upgrade £12 for a full English (that doesn’t even have black pudding)

Our visit started off with a bit of a bumpy start with a room that was cramped, non functioning toilet and lacked a shower. The other challenge could be the lack of lifts to various floors leading to issues with baggage. However, the staff quickly assisted us with better accommodations for our 2 week stay. We enjoyed both breakfast and evening dining options at Arundel as well as nearby restaurants along Bridge street. We walked everywhere but taxi service was promptly arranged when requested. Internet access was consistent around the property and freely available. Coming from a Caribbean island based on tourism we appreciated the friendliness, courtesy and readiness of staff to assist when approached.
