Antica Poesia, Camaiore, Lucca and Viareggio

Located in the hills above Viareggio and Lucca, Antica Poesia is a particularly savvy choice if you’re planning to attend the annual Puccini Festival at the open-air theatre in Torre del Lago or outings to the Renaissance-era walled city and the coast. Activities ranging from wine and olive oil-tasting to horse riding and golf are also available nearby. The property was formerly an olive press and has been transformed into a characterful two-storey Tuscan villa that will provide a very comfortable base for a family of four or two couples. Set among a small cluster of houses, the friendly owner lives in the adjoining villa and is happy to help where required.

With two furnished terraces, walled and open gardens, an outdoor kitchen, and a pool with outstanding views of the surrounding olive groves and the sea, you could be forgiven for not venturing too far though.   

 

Inside, the inviting interiors incorporate some of the original machinery used in the olive press and include good-sized bedrooms and cosy nooks in which to sit and catch up on that book you haven’t had time to read.
