The hotel is outdated and it was clean except for a couple of spiders in the room and dirty towels that the maid used to wipe down the room before we got there (I guess she forgot them) but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Extremely disappointing. I actually feel bad about saying this but Room 129 was lousy. Entry door latch was falling out of the door and daylight was showing around the door when it was closed. Ceiling light was bare bulbs. The "non smoking" room stunk badly of cigarette smoke. The bathroom was missing a wall tile and the bathtub had been repainted with a brush. Then touched up with a brush in another colour. But the worst part was the double bed. It sagged so badly in the middle it felt like it had a hole in it. A simple piece of plywood would fix it. I hardly slept. So the room was just badly run down. The plus side? I can't fault the housekeeping. Despite it being a wreck it was clean.

You get what you pay for, but we were not expecting how run down and shabby this hotel is. Dirty, numerous attempted fixes, paper thin doors, and even found unused women’s diapers in our restroom cabinet. The river behind the motel, very nice staff at check in, and its location are the bright spots.

The door did not have a dead bolt or throw over chain. Locked and unlocked with a key only. The walls were very thin so you could hear conversations from the next room. The carpet on the stairs and hallway was very dirty. Our room was clean but the bathtub was very stained and the drain was gross since it appeared to be rusted out.

It was a very old and run down room. No outlet for bathroom,no hair dryer, stained and rusty tub, a board in the entry way to the bathroom that the nails was loose. A tripping hazard indeed!! No lamp for the side table and the side table wood was peeling. The window frame paint peeling. The pool run down and broken, unusable. What i did like was towels seemed clean, the bed seemed clean. Picturs on website not as it claimed.

Property run down and the rooms need updated. Previous reviews mentioned crime with drug issues such as needles left in rooms. Our room was clean with no drug paraphernalia left behind. Probably better deals out there.

The hotel is run down and outdated. We were on the second floor, so we did not get to have a room with a porch by the river. We were in a non-smoking room, but right outside our door was an ash tray, and staff had been there smoking so there were fresh cigarettes and a nasty smell. The beds were outdated and old. In our room, the bathroom door was all scratched up like a dog had been locked in the bathroom. The hotel is in a very nice location. If some renovation work was done on the hotel and smoking was not allowed in the non-smoking areas it could be a very nice property to visit. The image of the hotel that is posted is misleading - it is not as nice as shown in the photo. The swimming pool was also in a state of disrepair, was closed, and is unusable. It should not be listed as an amenity as it has obviously been out of commission for a long time.

Great place, quiet location, good people.

I had a King room with a nice little porch looking out over the river. For my purposes, this location is perfect - quiet and relatively natural environment that is still roadside and able to get to a large number of hiking trails and towns all within 15 minutes. The front desk was warm and welcoming - the guy there is chill in a friendly way.

The property is very rundown but was decently clean. It had stains in the tub and awful wear and tear but it was kept clean ( for being so outdated.) 5 mins from Cherokee and 5 mins from Bryson city.
