I booked a 15-night stay, paid in full upfront via Expedia.ca, as I am here on business. I specifically chose Holiday Inn because I’ve been an IHG member for over 20 years and expected a basic level of professionalism and service. That expectation was a serious mistake.
Breakfast is included with the stay, which is essential when you’re living out of a suitcase for over two weeks. From day one, the breakfast has been consistently poor:
Cold potato wedges every single morning
Eggs that are hit-or-miss and often lukewarm
The only thing consistently acceptable is the coffee
I complained on day one, and repeatedly thereafter. Nothing changed.
The issues extend far beyond breakfast:
The heating in my room does not work properly
The deadbolt on my door is literally falling out of the wall — a serious safety issue
One of the elevators has been out of service for most of the week, which is unacceptable for a business hotel
As if that weren’t enough, there is a sign inside the elevator stating that there is NO housekeeping service on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays, or Bank Holidays.
This is never disclosed at the time of booking. When you’re staying 15 nights, this is a major omission and completely unacceptable.
