One major problem, and one which means we would not stay at the Clayton again, has to do with the regulation of temperature in rooms. The management of the Clayton have apparently decided that guests are not responsible enough to decide how warm they should be, so they make the decision for you by limiting the range on the thermostat. As it turns out they don’t want you to be very comfortable at. We did not appreciate being patronised in this way. Definitely a deal breaker.

Stylish central hotel

Comfortable room, stylish hotel in great central location. Very comfortable beds and room serviced daily. A range of minor niggles brought my rating down a little though - the aircon was occasionally overly cold, regardless of temperature set on the thermostat; the TV had very limited channels available and no chromecast; requests to reception for new remote control batteries went unactioned; the bathroom floor was dirty behind the door.

We came back again but stayed for 2 nights this time. It was lovely. Very convenient especially that we went to a gig nearby at the Bristol electric which was very close. Momos at st Nicholas market are a must if you are visiting by the way. Staff as always very friendly. Quick and easy check in and out, all electronic....but think I prefer the meet and greet magic of meeting staff where you get the warmth of the experience of staying at a hotel rather then all electronic. That's my only crutch. Room was lovely, quiet and clean. Perfect location.

Just ok.....wouldn't stay there again

Good location and nice enough inside. Didnt use the bar or resturant. A couple critism. No shower gel. Called reception and after 30 mins nothing even though house keeping were doing other rooms. Came back 8 hours later. Still not filled up. Third time, finally it was sorted. The double bed was ridiculously small. We had another single in the room, even though we booked a double. Room wasnt terrible but got have been cleamer. Carpets were stained and the bathroom was ok. Not really worth the money.

Conveniently located in old Bristol. The room was comfortable. One drawback was all the light switches. I had to ask how to turn off the reading lights.

The room was very large, clean and comfortable but I think it was also a handicap room. Bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and a shower/lg bathtub. Dining room and fitness center on site but didn’t use. Lemon water in lobby. Many bus options and city center within walking distance.

Great location in a quiet street with no access for vehicles. Hotel had no parking but there's plenty of car parks closeby. Self check in/out was easy and a member of staff on hand if you needed help. Room was very clean, beds comfy, toiletries and hairdryer, everything you need for a relaxing stay.stay. Central location meant shops, theatres, restaurants and public transport were a short walk from the hotel. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant which was nice enough but the service was very slow. Buffet breakfast weren't being refreshed and when you asked for anything it took so long that the rest of your food was cold. Everything was served on cold plates, which is my pet hate, both at breakfast and dinner. Why serve hot food on cold plates? All staff at the hotel were really nice and helpful and did their best. My only other gripe was there was no shaving/makeup mirror in the bathroom.

We found the carpet in the communal areas dirty and the one in our room stained. No pillow cases on spare pillows and one pillow was stained. Windows were exceptionally dirty. Would have expected more emphasis on cleanliness in a premier hotel. Breakfast standard not as good as it was last year.
