A terrible disappointment. I had heard that the Stamford Plaza was the original 'grande dame' of five-star hotels in Brisbane but was shocked at the condition of the property. It's clearly on its last legs and being prepared for either sale or redevelopment as clearly no funds to modernise and update the facilities have been invested for many, many years. The main restaurant is a disgrace and not fitting of a property of this kind. An Argentinean grillhouse serves as the venue for all meals. The ambience is threadbare, the seating terrible and outdoor terrace area frankly depressing and rundown. The bar is characterless and uninviting The guest rooms are very outdated and the furnishes and fittings have long outlived both their service and aesthetic lifespans. I'm sorry but I'd have to strongly advise others from staying here. I do hope there are investment plans for this property, given its superb location on the river and being right next to the Brisbane Botanic Garden. As it stands, the hotel is a terrible letdown and frankly an embarrassment for the city of Brisbane.

Excelllent hotel. But the restaurant used to be better. Why they changed to a more modern and plastic approach which clashes with the hotel is beyond me. I chose not to go to dinner there because the ambience is terrible. Which is sad as the hotel is a beautiful old piece

Super hotel in the heart of Brisbane

This was an impulse stay having met the concierge whilst parking our car in the car park. He was super helpful and we decided that we’d stay the night. Did have a slight issue with the TV and cabinet in the first room. We were moved and provided with a complimentary bottle of bubbles to compensate. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, although starting to look slightly tired, particularly in the corridors. We didn’t have time to use the facilities but believe them to be very good. We ate at the hotel that evening (at La Boca) which was excellent. Overall a lovely stay in a superior hotel in the heart of Brisbane.

Hair on shower/ bath wall when we first arrived and was very off putting. This reported to staff. Wine glass, spirits cans left on ledge in hallway. Great location with spectacular views. Lots of good eating choices only a short walk away. Outdoor pool was a good size with a spa. Staff were friendly.

Very tired rooms. Would not stay again. Only stayed there as that is where the wedding party was. They booked breakfast table over a month ago for 10 and they lost the booking so we all went around the corner to a fabulous place for breakfast. Some guest rooms were not cleaned properly at all. Thank goodness we only stayed one night, so didn’t have to worry. Check in was extremely delayed well after 2 pm
