A good overall stay for the price. Friendly staff. Rooms are very tired now with lots of deterioration on woodwork and in the bathroom. Two street lights constantly flashing outside.

Reception The staff on reception went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. We travelled to Braintree to celebrate my 80th birthday as our family is somewhat scattered, with our eldest daughter living in Braintree. We had booked 3 rooms and the wonderful reception staff allowed my daughter access to each room to leave special gifts for us and balloons in my room. There was even a birthday card and prosecco from the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with vegetarian sausages for one of my family. In all, nothing was too much trouble. We were able to order taxi's from the hotel to the venue and the bar was open for a nightcap on our return. A huge thank you to all at the Holiday Inn Express Braintree for helping make my birthday so memorable.

Night staff absolutely wonderful

Cleanliness in the room was average and I did report that the mugs and spoons were still dirty and asked for them to be changed which the staff were more than accommodating and helpful. Broken latch on the bedroom door which I reported and the reception offered to give me another room but it was very late and I felt more than safe. Bed was comfortable. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the pillows.

Close enough for a trip to Chelmsford for English schools athletics finals, approx 20 drive and garage shop and Toby carvery 1 minute walk. Breakfast was great and can't fault it.

The staff make you feel so welcome, as customer you feel good about the service you get ting. Maybe is not one of the top hotels of the holiday inn company but when you have good staff make you think it is . The hotel is clean, the bed is good quality and the area is easy access to be around .
