The cleanliness of the room was very poor. Both the bedroom and the bathroom had various cobwebs. All of the doors in the room were panel doors and the panel ledges looked like they had never been dusted! The area that would be behind the entry door when it was open had clearly not been cleaned for months, the carpet and skirting board were thick with dust, this was clearly visible when the door was shut. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. Would not stay here again.

On the face of it should have been a great 2 day break celebrating a friend's 80th - old mansion, sympathetically restored into a hotel. Our room, whilst not big, was cosy with modern bathroom. The bar spread into a conservatory with leather sofas and chairs, with a lovely view over the countryside. The restaurant was well set out and the staff were pleasant. BUT..on arrival at 4pm on the Saturday the room was cold - the radiator would not come on and that is how it stayed until we left on Sunday morning! The staff said they would sort it but never did - have us a 3 legged electric fire with minimal heat which had to be leant against wall. Ate there Friday night - both steak pie, crisp top but inevitable 'soggy bottom' mash ok but veg way undercooked. Saturday morning no hot water to wash or shower - boiler broken down - fixed by evening. Back from 'do' Saturday night went to bar for nightcap - suddenly at 10.30 we were told to leave the bar and go into conservatory, they were locking up!! - no sign, no warning, no 'last orders' - just 'go'. Nine of us had to move. Back to bedroom, cold, a standard creaky double bed. Very disappointing, won't be going back. They need to sort a few things!@

Have no real complaints about this hotel, only thing, we were on the top floor and it took Hot Water about 5 or 6 minutes to come up, but otherwise staff and the hotel were very pleasant, staff especially

Staff were lovely,very helpful, couldn't do enough for you,decor in room top notch,only one thing not too good,mattress on bed ,no padding,springs digging in body,no toppers to help alleviate problem,however staff put duvets on bed under sheet to help,views from window excellent,breakfast scrumptious,would definitely go back if we had decent mattresses.

A converted country home of some standing in its heyday . Now repurposed as a hotel Retaining many of its charming features in the reception area and dining area , with quiet and tasteful decor Very attentive and helpful staff , prompt, polite and cheerful with no issue being too much trouble The bedroom conversation in the room we were allocated was a rather unfortunate example of fitting a square peg into the round hole . Whilst generally it seemed to work , the room shape and structure had presented a challenge to the original designer and builder with stud partition walls simply cutting off the ornate plaster friezes of a once much larger and presumably, grand room . A little more investment in the attention to finish could have changed the ambience from functional to impressive. For example, the wc has ended up in such a tight recess as to make its intended function and use an impossibility for anyone of above average proportions The views from our ground floor windows were stunning and we were able to enjoy the rolling countryside from our ground floor room We had asked for ground floor due to limited ability to use stairs and this was indeed provided Facilities in the room are basic and functional with fresh and clean, linen , towels , soaps refreshments placed in the room More tea , coffee etc available on request For the price paid , this represents a good deal and a chance to enjoy a few moments of quiet calm within what was once a substantial home

Last minute stay over

Lovely Hotel set in lovely grounds including a vineyard, great dining area in a well lit conservatory, Room well lit however TV went on the blink with picture breaking up frequently. Nice bathroom, just needs a little attention to make sure shaving light works, blue and red sink tap inserts kept popping out everytime taps were turned on and shower only really got luke warm with not much pressure. nice selection of evening meals and friendly service during the evening meal and breakfast. Food at breakfast was ok but bacon ran out and it took about 15mins to get replenished when I mentioned it to the waitress. I had finished the rest of my food by then and thought it was a little steep at £15 as hash browns and scrambled egg were running really low too. Other than that it was comfortable for a last minute stay over
