Please note: There is a set of 12th Century Cornish granite steps leading up from the chapel grounds which are not accessible to ensure public safety.. Alongside the ancient bridge which crosses the River Camel, located centrally between Bodmin and Wadebridge, you will find Chapel Annex, forming part of this stunning former 12th Century Chapel, previously featured in the ’25 Most Beautiful Homes’ magazine. From the entrance you will find a cosy, welcoming living space with plenty of relaxing seating and a wonderful wood burner and luxury bed linen in the bedroom. The mature south facing communal garden and private woodland boast a beautiful rhododendron bush and a majestic giant redwood, and is carpeted by a luscious green lawn, tempting you to enjoy all that it has to offer. Look out for the Medieval water feature and the private Victorian gateway which will lead you onto the world-renowned Camel Trail, along which showcases some of the best views and countryside in Cornwall.
The chapel’s walled remnants shroud a private outdoor space where you can enjoy the sun until late, while you enjoy a glass of something special, perhaps from The Camel Valley Vineyard? The river itself hosts otters, sea trout and salmon, whilst above you a buzzard floating on the thermals and from dusk you may hear a tawny owl or two. Superbly located to enable you to explore the rugged North Cornwall coast, this rustic, white walled cottage is the perfect base. A popular local pub is just a 5-minute walk away.
To the north lies Tintagel, forever linked with the legends of King Arthur, whilst the pretty fishing village of Boscastle is also nearby. Flanked by the atmospheric Atlantic Ocean, the views quite simply are breath taking! Nearby, the town of Bodmin plays host to amenities ranging from pubs to shops, a laundry on the site of the original Bodmin railway to the Bodmin Jail attraction! Visit The Eden Project, a captivating experience housing the largest indoor rainforest in the world along with wildlife, plants and exotic species, all housed within huge domed enclosures.
For beaches, you are spoilt for choice and the golden sand stretches before you. Surfing is always popular at many of the beaches around the popular seaside town of Bude, located to the north. Padstow, the vibrant North Cornwall fishing port, with its inherent charms is well worth a visit, with pubs, seafood restaurants and lovely gift shops. To the south you can while away the day visiting the charming fish port of Looe and the China Clay Port of Fowey. A warm welcome awaits you at this charming cottage, leave the hustle and bustle behind you and quite simply - enjoy! Beach 12 miles.
