Hook
Wake up to the soft rush of the Toccoa River right outside your window, sip coffee on a 1,300-sq-ft double deck that floats over the water, and end the day under a velvet sky alive with fireflies and stars. Big Chair River House isn’t just a cabin—it’s your family’s front-row seat to the Trout-Fishing Capital of Georgia and the adventures of Blue Ridge.

The Space
Freshly renovated from top to bottom, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath waterfront home comfortably hosts up to 4 adults and 4 kids (8 guests total). All living spaces salute the river: oversized windows, two stacked view decks, and a private riverside platform keep the water in sight and in earshot at all times. Inside, gather around the wood-burning fireplace on a deep sectional, stream a movie on the smart TV, or break out the board games supplied for rainy-day fun. Outside, swap stories on the swinging bed, grill tonight’s catch on the propane BBQ, or toast marshmallows at the stone firepit that glows beside the water.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Upstairs you’ll find all three bedrooms so everyone wakes to birdsong together.
1. King Master Suite: river-view windows, access to a side deck, dresser storage, and an en-suite bath with walk-in shower.
2. Queen Room: cozy retreat just steps from the hall bath—ideal for grandparents or another couple.
3. Kids’ Bunk Room: a queen-over-queen bunk plus a twin-over-trundle (6 total sleeping spots). Sliding doors open to the upper front porch so the kids can greet the morning light.

Main-level full bath #2 includes a tub/shower combo—perfect for little ones after a day on the trails or in the river. Fluffy bath towels and hand towels are stocked for everyone.

Kitchen & Dining
The open kitchen keeps the chef in the conversation while whipping up pancakes or prepping tonight’s steaks. Stainless appliances, plenty of cookware, sharp knives, and a spice starter kit make eating-in easy. Pour a local wine and chat at the breakfast nook, or take plates outside to the 8-person farm table on the covered porch where the soundtrack is nothing but the river.

Outdoor Living
Step straight from the porch to adventure. Wade in for fly-casting, launch a tube, or sit on the riverside platform and spot kingfishers, deer, and the occasional otter. When early evening rolls in, light the firepit, scatter the Adirondack chairs, and watch the fireflies put on their world-famous May/June show. Prefer to snooze? The hanging bed swing on the upper deck is made for open-air naps.

Neighborhood
Big Chair River House is tucked in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area—one of North Georgia’s most sought-after playgrounds. Though the setting feels wonderfully secluded, you’re only 9 miles (about 15 minutes) from the restaurants, art galleries, and boutique shops of downtown Blue Ridge. A fully paved drive makes arrival easy in any vehicle, and there’s room for several cars once you’re here.

Loved the house and location right on the river. My boys loved being able to just walk out the front door and fish plus there was plenty of space for them to run around and play outside and the house was fully stocked with everything we could need for our stay!

Great place to relax.....

I have been traveling to Blue Ridge for over 30 years and have rented many properties there. I go 4-6 times a year to Fly Fish for Trout and relax. This property and location is rated in my top 3 in the area. Super clean, comfortable, amenities galore and the headwaters of the Tocca River 30 yards out the front door. We fished at the location and the river is very wadeable and fishable. Great place for families with children also. The host's were more than accommodating and made us feel at home. You can't go wrong with this rental.

Thanksgiving at the River

My family ! I had a lovely stay at the river house for thanksgiving this year. We found the accommodations to be as described & were pleased at how well-stocked the kitchen was with cookware! In case it matters, the river is actually across the street from the house but the shown river deck is just a few steps away. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful home at a perfect spot on the river!

Everything about the home and the location was just perfect! The home had more than enough room for our family of 4 - and had everything that we needed! It had a very well stocked kitchen and lots of comfortable furniture inside and outside. It really is a perfect location on the Tocoa River - and not too far from Blue Ridge. Lots of great hiking nearby too! Definitely recommend.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Our stay at Big Chair River House was amazing. From the flowing river to the family game nights to the relaxing porch swing, this has been one of my favorite family vacations. Our family reunion was this past weekend in Blue Ridge and we were able to float from my parents cabin a mile away straight to the dock here at the river house. We only experienced one issue which the host took care of right away. The kitchen was fully stocked for our cooking needs (we only needed to buy food). The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet and secure. We will be back!

Escaped the heat!

Wonderful property on a beautiful river. Spent 12 days escaping south FLA summer. We had a wonderful time standing in the shade with our feet in the Toccoa. River was low and clear with exception of the last day. Played most of the local golf courses, hiked the local trails, waded the river and sat around the fire pit in the evenings. Two sets of grand kids visited on two separate weekends and loved it.

Big Chair Review!

I love this house and property. Great window view to River when preparing meals and hanging out with family. Rooms and bedding super comfy. Great bunks for kiddos. Loved the fire pit area for smores. Tubing and downtown Blue Ridge nearby. Nightly plunges in river definitely rejuvenated us. Loved that there’s one TV in living area and not in every room. Focus on nature. Great hike up into Lilypad Village for exercise each day. Great gym in town. (Premiere Fitness). Had everything in house that we needed. Super clean and amenities way above average. I’d return here for sure! Spent time with my son in Army. Great release for him!

Relaxing Week on the River

The Big Chair River House was a wonderful place to stay. It’s was clean, well maintained, and the owners thought through so many little details that made the stay enjoyable. With two young kiddos, the large yard, bunk beds, and games were so much fun. The porches and river dock were very relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit every night and the drive into town was easy. There were a few things to do/ places to eat just down the road as well. The river was high from rain, so we didn’t play much in the water, but it was still a beautiful setting. We highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Great all around!

This house and location was perfect! I didn’t see any reviews on this property, but searched the property online for a little bit and then decided to just take a chance! I couldn’t have been more happy with my decision. The house was perfect for our family. The kids loved the bunk room! The house was newly remodeled and had no musty smells and was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen had everything g you need to cook a meal (we cooked dinner there twice with no frustrations). The house is right on the river, not steep climbs or trees obscuring the view. The kids loved walking and even tubing in the river (despite the cold weather)! We will definitely be back in the summer so we can take full advantage of the water! The road to the property is a one-lane dirt road that has many spots where you can pull aside to let another car pass…that being said, we only passed another car twice in our entire stay. It is a very quiet neighborhood. Just something to know if you are arriving to the house at night! We had no problems with our stay, so there were no urgent calls or texts to the owners. But Michelle was very communicative when booking the property and even gave us a list of must-do’s and great hikes (it was our first time in the area). Rarely have I had a VRBO that I want to go back to as I feel that there was always things that could have been different or just more places and areas to explore…..but we will definitely be going back to this house!!
