Hummingbird
Wake up to long-range Blue Ridge views in a home that's truly one of a kind in Catawba Falls Preserve — the only 2 king-suite retreat in a neighborhood of much larger 4–7 bedroom homes. That makes Hummingbird the perfect fit for a couple's getaway or two couples traveling together, without paying for space you don't need.
Step into an open great room and kitchen with soaring ceilings and a floor-to-ceiling stone, wood-burning fireplace. Two king en-suite bedrooms — one on each level — give everyone their own private retreat:
-Main-level suite: double granite sinks, walk-in shower, private water closet, plus a half bath and laundry closet nearby.
-Upper-level suite: a private loft, king bed, and sliding doors to a covered balcony with sweeping mountain views. The bath has double sinks and a separate water closet with tub/shower.
-The loft adds a pull-out sofa, which is ideal for a couple of kids.
Outside, unwind by the fire pit, soak in the hot tub, grill on the charcoal grill, or stretch out on the large covered deck listening to the mountains. Much of the cabin's decor was sourced locally from Black Mountain and Asheville artisans.
A few details worth knowing: 3 Smart TVs for streaming, newly installed fiber internet (600–700 Mbps — plenty for work calls, gaming, or a movie night), and a Tesla EV charger on-site (bring your adapter if you drive another EV brand).
The Neighborhood:
Bordering a vast forest preserve, Catawba Falls Preserve is a gated community with stunning views of Pisgah National Forest. You'll feel a thousand miles away — yet you're just 20 minutes from Black Mountain and about 35 minutes from Asheville. Hiking trails, streams, and waterfalls are all right in the neighborhood, and wildlife is abundant: expect deer, wild turkey, rabbits, birds, fox, and the occasional black bear sighting.
Other Things to Note:
The property is quiet, private, and sits on 2 acres with breathtaking views in every direction. Relax on the wrap-around deck's cozy furniture, hammocks, and rocking chairs, or take your morning coffee out to the upstairs covered balcony for those long-range mountain views.
The kitchen is fully stocked for a trouble-free vacation — a drip coffee maker, Keurig, and hot water kettle are all on hand. Beds are made up before you arrive, with fresh towels and linens ready and waiting.
Our home is professionally cleaned and inspected between every stay, so you can settle in and start relaxing right away.
Our calendar is always kept up to date, so what you see is accurate — feel free to book directly, or reach out with any questions and we'll usually respond within a few hours.
Pet Policy:
We understand wanting to bring your best friend along! We welcome up to 2 well-behaved, housebroken dogs with prior approval and a $100 pet fee. Just share your dog's breed, weight, and age so we can approve ahead of time — dogs should be house-trained, up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention, and comfortable settling in without constant supervision. To keep the home in great shape for every guest, we ask that dogs stay off the furniture. We're not able to accommodate cats or other animals — thanks for helping us keep Hummingbird wonderful for everyone.
The Region:
Black Mountain, 15 miles from Asheville on the eastern edge of Buncombe County, is a quintessential small mountain town — a charming, walkable downtown, a thriving arts and crafts scene, and, at 2,405 feet elevation, easy access to incredible outdoor adventure. Named for the mountain range towering over it, Black Mountain became a haven for artists, musicians, poets, and architects in the mid-20th century, and remains one today, with galleries showcasing some of the region's best Southern Appalachian craftsmanship.
