On arrival front desk staff did not check the rate properly and charged for breakfast only to have to refund later when proven it was included. Room was incredibly basic, door did not close and needed to be kicked to close and then leaned against to lock. Temperature control was broken leaving the room at a very cold temperature irrespective of the user input. Pillows were rubbish - even with 4 stacked they still went flat as a pancake. Wifi dropped frequently. Breakfast was a shambles - cereal was circa 10% dust and stale, the coffee was barely drinkable, and you can hear anything above a whisper from neighbouring rooms - every toilet flush, burp, conversation, opening drawers, their tv, stirring drinks, or other activity. The only good point was the staff in general were polite and friendly as you would expect.

For a city stay the hotel was very quiet. Blackout curtains in the bedroom did their job well- no gaps. We walked just a short distance to places to eat and the Utilita arena . Only slight hiccup was the fire alarm - short burst- test we think. It was 9am though and luckily not middle of the night!

Our Room was spotless and warm . Slept well and offered the amenities for the visit . We enjoyed our stay . All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful . Breakfast was lovely and enjoyed the ideal of being able to have an omelette cooked while you wait . Great time and would use your service again . Positives On arrival the staff greeted us warmly/ with friendly interest. The reception and bar/lounge area were inviting. The room was clean, with large bed and basic offers (tea/coffee facilities) and a fridge with complimentary water. Not so great The shower gel had ran out (but I'd bought my own) We couldn't really see why this was a '4 star. The breakfast was OK, but I've had better in 3 star places, smaller hotels. Probably no better than a travel lodge. The orange' juice'was not juice or had been watered down beyond recognition. The eggs were the powdered kind, except for the fried egg/omelette station, which was made nicely by a friendly, polite staff member on one of the 2 days we stayed. The sausages/bacon were ok but nothing special. I'd hoped to use the cross trainer for a cardio workout (to open my lungs up for singing that day) but the machine wouldn't power on/the socket connection was broken. The other cardio machines were sit down typess (recumbent bike, pelaton bike you needed an app for, and normal bike) and a running machine. None of which I could fully use due to hypermobility and tailbone issues. The main problem (and why I wouldn't go back) was the bed. It was soo hard I struggled to sleep and then woke up in discomfort a few times each night. Not helped that the pillows were super soft. Therefore making your head low/not giving good spinal alignment. My partner struggled with this too. The checkout was flat/disinterested staff

Good location for the city, quick checkin Rooms have had a make over which is nice although they are missing some decent lighting to get ready to go out in! Breakfast was good, fresh offer and egg cooking station available

Nice clean hotel, very very handy for Birmingham Town Centre. Within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars, venues and tram stops. Loads of places to plug devices in and free wi-fi worked well. Would say the lights were oddly low, so the room was quite dark but not a huge issue. Breakfast was great. I parked at the nearby Q-Park, only a short walk from the hotel, and was able to pre-book so just drove straight there.
