We enjoyed our stay at Scandic Ørnen, and our selections above reflect our satisfaction. Two things happened, one fairly minor, one of more importance to us.
Minor - a male reception staff member had a lengthy conversation with a female who appeared to be a hotel customer. As I speak Norwegian, it was easy to determine this was not about hotel business. I stood nearby clearly waiting for my turn to ask a question that was about something related to customer service. After at least 5 minutes, I gave up.
Important (to us) - lack of washcloths. We are accustomed to using washcloths, and had not previously encountered this. When we asked, we were offered additional hand towels. We took the towels, and made do. This policy flys in the face of Scandic’s stated concern for the environment, and causes your customers unnecessary inconvenience and a bit of embarrassment. At the very least, washcloths should be offered upon request.
