The hotel is older style and rooms are being renovated nicely. The door into the bathroom is quite narrow though. TV in our room was very problematic. Eventually needing to unplug from the wall to stop it restarting overnight. Although the room had been renovated the Toilet seat was yellow underneath. Air conditioning limited to 22 degrees cooling. Very friendly staff who tried to resolve issues. Great location for exploring the old city. Some great restaurants and cafes in walking distance. Lovely gardens opposite for a quiet wander. Very helpful information from the hotel about transport options from the airport with clear directions for using the buses. Expect costs to be expensive and budget accordingly.

I would definitely stay here again. It is a very convenient location, right at the gate of Basel - the Spalentor. So many shops and restaurants within walking distance, and right across the street from the bus stop that takes you directly to the old city or the main train station.

Staff was very friendly. Check-in was easy and room was ready early. Breakfast was offered at a fee, but was well worth it. We came to learn that breakfast is not “a thing“ in Switzerland. Most places offer coffee and a baked good. Breakfast at the hotel was a full spread, including eggs, bacon, meat, yogurt, cheeses, fruit, pastries, jams, and various toppings. very pleased with our stay.
