Unfortunately, our stay did not match the listing, price, or standard we expected. On arrival, we were met by a strong smell of cat urine in the vestibule competing with multiple fragrances throughout the property. The combination caused me headaches and nausea. To help, we washed the vestibule rug ourselves.
While the interior initially appeared reasonably clean, closer inspection told another story. The stovetop was greasy enough to smear residue with my finger, the kettle/hot pot was unclean, and numerous surfaces appeared superficially wiped rather than thoroughly cleaned. The grounds and garden were unkempt and lifeless, echoed indoors by neglected, dying succulents.
The TV was unusable and its remote missing. Furnishings were sparse and the beds extremely uncomfortable. We specifically booked this property for separate bedrooms, yet bedroom availability became an issue we had to resolve before arrival.
Communication began reasonably but became increasingly frustrating once problems were reported, despite my providing photographs and repeatedly seeking resolution.
Most troubling, someone apparently entered while we were away without notifying us. We returned to find the vestibule door open and a new kettle and toaster inside. Unannounced entry into an occupied rental left us very uncomfortable.
The property has potential but needs far greater attention to cleanliness, maintenance, comfort and guest communication. My accompanying photos document what we encountered.
