Built in the 1890's, the Libby House sits in a tree-filled, sunny neighborhood abutting the historic residential district that was once home to a colony of summer "rusticators" comprised of New York Philharmonic Orchestra luminaries. The Libby House is one of the largest rental properties in downtown Bar Harbor proper, offering 5 bedrooms (7 beds) and 3 full baths, parking for several vehicles, and sizable, grassy grounds filled with a variety of flowering trees and bushes. The central business district, with numerous shopping, entertainment, and dining options, as well as the ocean, town beach, Shore Path, Village Green, local museums, and main station for the complimentary island shuttle are a (genuine) 3-5 minute walk away. Although almost everything that you will want to see or do in Bar Harbor is a quick walk away, the property is well-sheltered from the noise, congestion and lights of the downtown. The grounds are quite spacious, affording considerable room for children to play. Some of our favorite activities include taking an early morning walk on the shore path, enjoying a cocktail on the back porch at sunset, and catching a band concert on the nearby Village Green. The house offers contemporary features and comforts while retaining a number of historic touches such plaster walls, hard-wood floors, detailed trim, claw-foot tubs, and ornate light fixtures. Once settled in this central location, many guests leave their car parked for the duration of their stay. The Libby House is equipped with high speed internet WIFI, digital satellite, and Sirrius XM satellite radio. A collection of board games, puzzles and several dozen books are available to help pass the time.
