Comfortable Spacious Victorian Central Bar Harbor, 5 bedroom 2 bath

Ledgelawn Cottage, an eleven room nineteenth century home on Bar Harbor's historic Ledgelawn Avenue, is steps from all the attractions of downtown and a few minutes from Acadia National Park. Stroll to the village green, restaurants, shops, theaters, museum, Shore Path, free Island Explorer bus, tennis courts, skateboard park, playground, and Sunday farmer's market. Acadia Park entrances are a few minutes' drive away. Ledgelawn Cottage provides comfortable inviting spaces for gathering with family and friends. The home opens with a spacious sunroom, the perfect spot to relax over morning coffee and begin the day. From there, the first floor offers five spacious rooms, including a beautiful new family room currently being prepared for 2026, with gas fireplace, large TV, and a queen-size pullout couch that provides a private first floor bedroom. There is a large well-stocked kitchen for preparing family meals, a sun-filled dining room providing puzzles and board games to play around the big dining table that seats eight to ten guests, a reading room with books for adults and children, and local maps and guidebooks, and a large living room with television and lots of comfortable seating. The first floor also includes a laundry, half bath, and separate shower room with large walk-in shower.
The second floor includes an office with two desks, a full bath with shower tub, and four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed. There is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a room with a double brass four-poster, and a room with two twin beds. A wooden toddler bed and a pack-and-play are also provided.
Outdoors, there are a gas grill, lawn seating, and picnic tables. The driveway holds up to three cars.
Ledgelawn Cottage is a non-smoking, no pet vacation home. Dogs cannot be considered under any circumstances, regardless of breed, due to severe family allergies. We welcome up to ten staying guests (including children and babies), with a maximum of fourteen people on the property at any time.

The house is a very charming old house. Bedrooms were very spacious with plenty of storage to unpack clothes. Master bedroom bed was very comfortable, but the queen and double bed weren’t very comfortable. It was great that every room has a standing fan for help with cooling, but also white noise. The location was great for walking to downtown to restaurants and shopping, and also close access to Acadia. The front porch was a nice place to hang out later in the day after sun went down. The kitchen was very well stocked with spices, oils, dishes- literally most everything you need but hate to buy for a short stay. It was nice not to have to buy salt, paper towels, tissues etc.All in all, this is a great place. My only “issue” with staying here was the checkout procedures. We had to do more than any other Vrbo I have stayed in. Most tell you to take out the trash and start dishwasher. There were extra steps to take before we left. It’s a lot to ask, esp when trying to leave early morning to catch flights! Even with the extra check out procedures, it was still a lovely stay in a charming house. If I ever came to this area again, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Home Away From Home

We try to visit ANP at least every other year and like to stay right in Bar Harbor. This was our first time staying at this location but depending on availability it won’t be our last. Seven adults stayed comfortably here with large bedrooms, enough bathrooms and plenty of room to prepare meals, eat, play games and relax. We especially loved relaxing on the front porch after a busy morning of hiking before we walked into town to explore the many restaurants and shops.

Fall family vacation

We had a wonderful stay here for our fall family vacation. The home has plenty of space for families and little ones, comfy beds, and a well equipped kitchen. Lots of useful maps/brochures of town, a cute little “library” reading area (with even a thoughtful kids library). The location is perfect for walking into downtown restaurants and shops. All very walkable. Julie was a friendly, helpful and responsive host. We highly recommend booking!

This was a great, large house that was very comfortable for the seven of us. Tip for anyone who has never stayed in Ledgelawn Ave—sleep with earplugs so you can have the windows open (you need that w no AC) so the trucks don’t wake you in the morning. Also, there a couple details that I hope the owner can look into—there was a big lobster pot, but no lobster cracker, pick or tools. There were extra pillows, but no extra pillow cases. No big impact, we got our own stuff. Lastly, the driveway ledge is a bit high so we put down pebble bags to protect our car from scraping. Other than these little details, the house is great and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Definitely recommend!

Great location in a cute city!

5/5. This property is in a wonderful location - walking distance from shops, restaurants & bars. Very close to Acadia also!! How cool is that? It’s a safe little area as well. The house matched the listing with plenty of space. There is no A/C; however, that is common in the area for many of the homes given the climate. There are lots of fans provided and keeping windows open cools the place down a decent amount. The host is so kind and accommodating - I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. She will make your stay comfortable and stress free. We loved our stay!

Eight Sassy Sixties

We took a girls trip to Bar Harbor to celebrate our 60th birthdays. The location of this home was perfect. Quick walk to restaurants and harbor. The host is very responsive and provides a charming home with lots of character. We enjoyed our stay. Be sure to read the guest book as there are great recommendations for restaurants. 15 minute drive to Acadia National Park.

Comfortable, classic home with excellent Bar Harbor location

This is an old, classic home that has been tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Our middle son had his wedding ceremony in Acadia and reception in Bar Harbor. As such we had two couples (family) and three adult sons stay at the house. Plenty of spacious rooms for gathering, eating, or 'separating' for a quiet reads. The weather was 'sketchy' so we could not use the beautiful patio or back yard, but also cute and comfortable. Kudos to the owners on a lovingly tended home.

Charming 4 bedroom Victorian in Bar Harbor - clean and well equipped.

A charming clean Victorian "cottage" located in Bar Harbor a short distance from restaurants & shops, and a very short drive to Acadia NP Loop road. Kitchen is well equipped. Four separate bedrooms as listed. Bath in upstairs main washroom. Shower adjacent to laundry room on main floor, and a separate 2 piece washroom on main floor as well- all in all charming and functions well.
