Disliked: Amenities
The room itself was fine, as were the amenities. The location isn’t the best if you want to explore Bangkok, there is a shuttle boat that runs every half an hour that takes you to the tourist boat stop. We received a warm welcome from the staff.
However, we were in room 385 and on our first night the music from a ‘local club’ was unbearably loud, so after a long haul flight we didn’t get to sleep until it had stopped at just gone 3am. The base was so heavy that ear plugs were useless. The walls were also paper thin and so when that stopped we could hear our neighbour arrive late, housekeeping announcing the arrival of their luggage and all the bustling about after. I messaged reception asking to move rooms the following night, and no one came back to us. I have since discovered that this hotel’s neighbouring sister hotel, (Avanti+) has a nightclub on 27th floor where the music that kept us up was coming from!
It was thoughtless to put us in that room knowing the club night was on, it would have been understandable if we’d booked a rowdy part of town but this was meant to be a quieter area of the city. Neither of us are light sleepers, so when I say it was bad, it was really bad. Avoid if you’d like a good nights sleep.
