Nothing could be finer than a stay at Carolina House, a quaint, oceanfront home that will charm you from the entry to the views.

Walk up the wooden boardwalk path and stairs, passing the small outdoor shower under the home, to the first-floor entry. On this level are several bedrooms and a full-size, front-loading, Samsung washer/dryer. Two of the four bedrooms on this floor have two twin beds each; one has a TV and a VCR. Down the hall, you'll find a third bedroom with a queen bed, a TV, and a DVD player, and a fourth with a queen bed and in-room access to the shared hallway bath.

Head up to the second floor to find an open floor plan with fresh paint and flooring. Three large, sliding glass windows frame ocean vistas, making it hard to remember what life was like back home. Enjoy the view from the dining table or pull up a seat at the small breakfast bar that peeks into the kitchen with granite countertops and subway tile backsplash. Soak it all in as you relax in the cozy great room with a TV and breathtaking beach scenes.

The queen bedroom on this level offers in-room access to a recently updated bathroom with a tub/shower that is shared with the living area. Speaking of new remodels, the oceanfront sundeck received one in 2023. While there, you can sink into Adirondack chairs with a cool beverage, and a hot tub around the corner on the upper-level deck. Afterward, go for a dip in the shared Club Hatteras pool

Stroll to the public boardwalk that borders the property, carrying you up and over the steep dune to the beach. Feel great about your choice to make Carolina House your home this year.

To start the house on the beach was very convenient however making it over the dunes was a challenge to get to the beach with children and elderly. Entering the home it was clean however the little things wrong in the home was the biggest disappointment. The beds and pillows are not comfortable at all and the bed down stairs could not be slept in due to the fact the bed frame was sticking out of from underneath almost a foot just covered with the blanket so not seeing the frame my husband and i both busted our legs on them. The coffee maker did not work unless you held the top together for the entire process and then it wouldn’t stop so it couldn’t be used during the stay. The door handle on the microwave was broken off and missing so it was barley used. After taking a shower pulling the shower curtain back the whole rod fell and hit me it was literally just stuck in the wall. we did find outdoor bugs in downstairs bed and called about them. they did send pest control out to ensure us they were not bed bugs but only outdoor bugs that had gotten in. I just feel like spending your hard earned money on a house for a trip should be worth it and enjoyed and this house was just not that. Overall we were disappointed.

Fantastic stay!

Great location. Right next to beach access. Spacious parking. Plenty of kitchen amenities (cooked for 7 the whole time). Ocean front and easy to see the pier from the deck. Love the quiet hours for neighborhood. Keypad lock made it easy for us to come and go from the beach in groups. Convenient private outside shower and rinse station. Within delivery range for pizza from Buxton. Close to the grocery, gas, & emergency beach supplies. Easy TV login for streaming services. Easy to use hot tub. Go out on the beach after dark and hunt ghost crabs. Also in the wet sand, if you drag your foot across it in the dark, you can see bioluminescence. The A/C worked great. I’m mentioning this specifically because it worried me in other reviews. The only times we were warm upstairs was when doing a lot of cooking all at once with the oven & stoves on. (Low to mid 80s outside all week) The layout for socializing was nice since the person making dinner could talk to people watching TV or playing board games at the table at the same time. Vacasa - Super friendly and made access for extra sheets and bath towels easy Things to know - bring extra dish cloths and throws to snuggle under (there were no extra throw blankets in the house). Bring your own beach towels, sand toys, water boards/floats, chairs. While I wouldn’t classify this as a luxury property, it’s a solid, upper-middle choice. Can’t beat it for the amenities at this price point. Thanks for a great week of memories!

First, I will start with a positive. The home was clean for the most part. My spouse & I arrived later than expected due to flight cancellations, however, checking in was simple so that was nice. We woke up the next morning having not been able to go to the store at 0200, and there was no coffee. I’ve stayed in many different home rentals and hotels and ALL of them at the very least have coffee and coffee fixings…. That is very simply away from home basics. I’ve never stayed at a VRBO that didn’t have at least those things. This is a beach house, on the beach, in a beach community and there were no extra towels, no beach towels… why?? I would imagine that those could be accounted just as hand & bath towels. The whole point of renting a house it to have most of the amenities of home. There was no WIFI as per the instructions on the various emails, so no TV, or even radio streaming. I’d like to say that that was the worst of the experience however, the second day in the house my husband ran to the store, I heard the key pad on the door & door open not long after he had left & assumed that he was back, until I hear a strange man’s voice call out “hello” I say hello back in surprise & he announces “pest control” THIS MAN HAD ALREADY UNLOCKED THE DOOR AND ENTERED THE HOUSE!! I told him to leave and immediately got on the phone to VACASA, the attendant refused to transfer my call locally to speak to someone to address this. I’ve tried several times now to actually speak to VACAS

Great Vacation!

Thank you! We enjoyed our stay immensely. The check in process was very easy. We got an email on our way down of how to access the house since we were coming in very late the first night. The AC worked well! And the walk to the beach was perfect. Beach wasn’t crowded and everyone we met was considerate. Thank you! Would stay again!
