The hotel was more of a motel. It was run down, dirty, and felt like the entire place was falling apart. The bathtub glaze had been worn off, light fixtures and bathroom fixtures were falling off the walls/ceiling. There was a hole in ceiling. The ceiling was cracking. The bed frame creaked every time you moved. It sounded like it was about to fall apart. The bed had a huge sink hole in it. You basically folded in half when you laid down on it. The screen door to the balcony had holes in so bugs came in if we wanted fresh air. We didn’t feel comfortable to walk on the floor barefoot after a shower. We immediately put shoes and socks back on.

I got what I paid for, a 2 star hotel. This building is old. I has it character. Staff is friendly and serves well speciially with the storage. Overall, it was a good experience

My mirror in room was cracked, no room service ,top door lock was broken, came to fix it and it broke again. At 3am heater in room made banging sound old heater system. Erica at front office was a nice person but her hands were tied. Nothing she could do but send info to offsite mangager who never responded back to me. We could leave because it was the last hotel avail for jazz festival weekend. We will never stay there again.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming! It was lovely to drink coffee in the mornings on the balcony table with a small view toward the bay. Avalon as a whole is extraordinarily walkable which made it easy to just quickly come back to the hotel for anything.

It’s a walk up the hill past the museum to get there. And lots of stairs to the rooms with luggage. Cable service seemed to be on the Fritz. Our shower soap container was completely empty which makes me wonder how often it is checked. Took the lid off hoping there was some at the bottom. Bone dry. The bed was really hard which killed my back. Couldn’t get comfortable . I found the WiFi ok but it didn’t work well for my hubby. Odd. The room was clean but really smelled of bleach.

Staff is very pleasant. We requested a room with a balcony. The balcony was facing the street and it is quite loud all day with golf carts/ cars driving by. The screen door had a big tear where the handle is so that wasn’t pretty to see either. We kept the glass door closed to avoid the noise and flies. However, we did enjoy our stay there, the room was clean and the bed was very comfy!!

The stay was OK overall, although overpriced for the value. The room was clean and the hostess was friendly and professional. However, I didn't enjoy overly frugal approach of the owners to hide and lock coffee pods post breakfast hours of 7am-11am. We also an aftertaste of sloppiness: from the mixed up cold and hot water faucet labels, to a widely incorrect time on the office wall clock.
