About this property

Harbour Views & a Private Balcony on Princes Wharf

A beautifully appointed waterfront apartment on Auckland`s iconic Princes Wharf — harbour views and a private outdoor dining balcony directly above the water, queen bed, oven, dishwasher, in-unit laundry, air conditioning, dedicated workspace, and key safe access. The Viaduct, Ferry Terminal, Britomart, and the Maritime Museum are all steps away. Please note: Princes Wharf is an active waterfront and ferry horn signals can be heard, particularly in the early morning. Earplugs are provided.

There is a particular quality to a harbour view from Princes Wharf that no inland apartment can replicate — the water is not across the road or glimpsed between buildings, it is directly below you, moving with the tide and changing with the light throughout the day. From the private balcony of this Shed 19 apartment, with the outdoor dining set in position and the Waitemata Harbour stretching out beyond, the combination of a genuine working waterfront address and a comfortable, well-appointed apartment is exactly what guests have consistently come back to in their reviews.

The apartment is bright, modern, and well-resolved — a queen bed with quality linen in a proper separate bedroom, a beautifully tiled bathroom with walk-in shower, and an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area that makes the most of the harbour-facing windows and direct balcony access. The kitchen is fully equipped for proper self-catering: oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, and all the essentials. A dedicated workspace with high-speed WiFi and air conditioning make this equally practical for business travellers. In-unit washer and dryer add self-sufficiency for longer stays.

One thing to know before you book: Princes Wharf is an active working waterfront, and the Ferry Terminal is immediately adjacent. Ferry horn signals and harbour activity are part of the soundscape here — particularly early in the morning when Waiheke Island and Devonport services begin. This is stated clearly because it matters: for guests who embrace genuine waterfront living it is simply part of the experience, and the proximity that creates the noise also creates the view.

Princes Wharf is one of Auckland`s most storied addresses. Built in 1929 and named after Admiral Earl Jellicoe, the wharf was for decades the city`s primary point of arrival and departure — the place where ships from around the world docked, and where generations of New Zealanders arrived, departed, and said their goodbyes. During the Second World War the wharf served as headquarters for United States forces in the Pacific. The shed buildings that line the wharf today are the survivors of that era — long, beautiful warehouse structures that were sympathetically converted into apartments, restaurants, and bars by Leuschke Group Architects in 1998, one of Auckland`s most celebrated waterfront regeneration projects.

Today Princes Wharf is home to Somm wine bar and restaurant, Wahlburgers, and a collection of waterfront dining and drinking venues that make the wharf one of Auckland`s most enjoyable evening destinations. The New Zealand Maritime Museum is immediately at the base of the wharf. Free public viewing decks at the end of Shed 23 offer panoramic harbour views. The wharf also serves as a berth for visiting cruise ships — when a vessel is in port, the precinct takes on an even more vibrant and international character.

The entire apartment is yours — bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, open-plan living and dining area, dedicated workspace, and private balcony with harbour views.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Self check-in via key safe — full instructions and codes will be sent the day before your arrival. Early check-in can often be accommodated subject to availability — please enquire at booking.

While we will leave you in peace to enjoy your time in Auckland, we are available 24 hours a day for an emergency.

For those non-urgent like-to-haves, just give us a call or a quick message and we will do everything we can to make this your most memorable trip to Auckland yet.

Princes Wharf connects directly to the Viaduct Harbour precinct — one of Auckland`s most celebrated waterfront dining and entertainment areas. Baduzzi, Hello Beasty, Giraffe, and the full sweep of Viaduct waterfront restaurants and bars are a very short walk along the boardwalk. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is immediately adjacent for Waiheke Island, Devonport, and Hauraki Gulf services.

Commercial Bay`s flagship retail and dining complex is a short walk east along Quay Street, as is Britomart`s cobblestoned laneways. Wynyard Quarter`s North Wharf dining precinct and Silo Park are an easy westward stroll. The New Zealand Maritime Museum is at the base of the wharf. The CBD`s Queen Street, Sky Tower, Aotea Square, and the Auckland Art Gallery are all within comfortable walking distance.

Princes Wharf is one of Auckland`s most walkable waterfront addresses. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is immediately adjacent for Waiheke Island, Devonport, and all Hauraki Gulf services. Britomart Transport Centre is a short walk with full train network connections. The waterfront promenade connects east and west along the full harbour edge. Auckland Airport is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car.

A complimentary starter pack is provided on arrival — a small selection of tea, coffee, milk, and bathroom essentials to get you settled comfortably from the moment you arrive. Supermarkets and convenience stores are nearby for any additional supplies you need during your stay.

Weekly and monthly discount rates are available and apply automatically to longer stays.

A private airport transfer can be arranged at additional cost — please get in touch at least 48 hours before your arrival and we will organise it for you.

To ensure a smooth arrival, we ask all guests to complete a short online pre-check-in form and upload a valid government-issued photo ID before arriving — this takes just a couple of minutes.

This is a non-smoking, no-vaping property throughout — including the balcony and all common areas. No parties or events. Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and checkout is by 10:00 AM.

Princes Wharf occasionally hosts large cruise ships at the adjacent berth. When a vessel is in port, the wharf becomes busier than usual during the day. Arrivals and departures are publicly listed on the Port of Auckland schedule and we are happy to advise on upcoming visits if this is something you would like to plan around.

Princes Wharf is a working waterfront, and the ferry terminal is immediately adjacent to the wharf. Guests in this apartment may hear ferry horn signals and occasional harbour activity, particularly early in the morning when Waiheke and Devonport services begin. This is part of the character of a genuine waterfront address — the same proximity that makes the harbour views and the location exceptional also means the harbour is present and audible.
We kindly ask all guests to help us maintain the peaceful, high-standard environment of this home by following a few simple rules:

A valid photo ID, email address, and phone number are required prior to check-in.

Please respect our no-party policy and observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Smoking, vaping, or drug use is not permitted inside the suite or anywhere in the apartment, building, complex or balcony.

In the rare case of a noise complaint or evidence of smoking, an additional fee of up to NZD $500 may apply.

Check in available after 3pm through lock box key collection. Lock boxes are located a short distance away, full details will be sent prior to arrival. We advise collecting the keys on your way to the apartment, if coming to the city via taxi or UBER, ask the taxi to wait a second while you collect the key. The walk to the apartment from the lock box is not far, but no one wants to walk in the city with suitcases!

Everything was in great shape. Could not get a better location in the city. Close to everything when walking.
View from the deck towards downtown.
If you are coming on a cruise it’s a close walk to the unit.
Closer shot of downtown.

We had a great stay. Any queries were answered quickly. Had a food basket - asked for breakfast items because 14 hour flight from Canada would play us out. It was perfect which meant we could go out for a quick meal on day we arrived and take our time in the morning the 2nd day. Had enough for at least 3 days of light breakfasts. Groceries, restaurants, ferries very close. Loved sitting on deck and watching water traffic.
