The Space:

Artist’s Retreat is arranged across two connected pavilions, creating a simple, open layout with plenty of natural light. The main pavilion holds the living, dining, and kitchen areas. Under the high gable roof, the space feels calm and airy, opening straight to a wide deck surrounded by native bush.



The kitchen is fully equipped for relaxed cooking at home, whether you’re preparing breakfast before heading down to the beach or winding down with an easy dinner after exploring the island. The deck extends the living area outdoors and quickly becomes the central gathering spot, shaded, quiet, and ideal for meals or evening drinks.



The home includes two bedrooms.

The main bedroom is positioned for morning light and greenery, with a king bed and soft, simple furnishings.

The second bedroom offers flexible sleeping options: a queen bed, a single bed with a pull-out trundle beneath, and a sofa is ideal for families or groups sharing the space. The bathroom sits close to both bedrooms and is practical for everyday use.



With its open layout, bush outlook, and easy indoor–outdoor flow, the retreat suits couples, families, or small groups looking for comfort and space.

Guest Access:

The retreat is all yours, the entire home, deck, and garden area. There’s parking at the property, and the beach is just down the hill.

Check-in is from 2pm, and check-out is 10:30am. Early or late check-ins may be available for an additional cost, depending on bookings either side.

The retreat sits in a quiet bush setting between Onetangi and Palm Beach. It feels private and peaceful, yet you’re close to everything — beaches, cafés, vineyards, and walking tracks.

Beach Store Waiheke — casual takeaway coffee and simple morning bites across from the sand.

Three Seven Two — modern coastal dining just steps from Onetangi Beach.

Solar Eating House — an easy all-day menu in a sunny garden courtyard.



Dinner

Ki Māha — refined beachfront dining, one of the island’s most celebrated restaurants.

Tantalus Estate — vineyard restaurant, cellar door, and elegant indoor–outdoor dining.

Te Motu – The Shed — relaxed, refined dishes surrounded by the vines.



Breweries

The Heke — craft beer, wood-fired mains, and a lively outdoor garden bar.



Onetangi Beach is roughly a ten-minute walk down the hill and is ideal for swimming, long walks, and simple beach mornings.



Getting Around:

The Sea View Road bus stop is an easy walk from the retreat, with services running to Onetangi, Palm Beach, Oneroa Village, and the Matiatia Ferry Terminal. The same route stops outside major wineries in the Onetangi Valley.



If you’re driving, parking is available at the property. E-bikes and scooters are also available across the island and are a convenient way to explore.



Other Things to Note:

The home runs on rainwater, so please use water thoughtfully.



Pets may be accepted on request, subject to approval before booking.



On-site parking for one vehicle.



Minimum stays:

7 nights mid-December to mid-January

3 nights on long weekends

2 nights at all other times



Interaction with Guests:

The Stay Waiheke team are locals who love this island and are always happy to help. We’re available seven days a week from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and for emergencies only, there’s an after-hours number so you’re always covered.
