I rent through VRBO multiple times per year for business and pleasure and this was by far the worst experience and a first for me. The home was not properly maintained, many of the appliances did not work; dishwashers were reporting error codes and could not wash the dishes. Upon arriving, I noticed that the dishes were dirty with residual food & spots, being that I had clients arriving, I spent hours attempting to run them through the (2) dishwashers only to find I had to wash them all by hand. There was mold in the tray of the Keurig. We didn't have hot water for showers. The VRBO property listing had indicated (7) bedrooms, upon arriving with 14 people, we learned we only had access to (6) bedrooms. The pool was dirty, the owner did remedy this by bringing in the cleaning company the next day. The home is nearly 15k square feet with only one television in the living room. The home is beautiful, it just wasn't maintained well nor was it set-up properly for short-term rental purposes. I later learned that short-term rentals aren't even permitted in the town of Atherton per town zoning laws.
