Excellent restaurant with a fantastic buffet breakfast. We stayed in one of the "Kumo" rooms which had nice views of Mount Aso. Would recommend to others.
A classic rural onsen resort hotel, a bit old but everything feels great, very affordable, only downside is a bit hard for solo travelers to reach due to it being almost 20 min walk from train station
The overall experience was great. The room was spacious. For some people, they may consider the hotel rather old, but that was fine for us. The staff were really helpful.
Very nice staff, free spa/public bath, and nice room. We tried the dinner buffet, but we would not recommend. Selection was limited and quality was less then expected based on price.
The property was nice, but common restrooms smell. Not sure if the cleaning process caused it or something else. The lobby and also staircase common restrooms both smell.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
There is a common area that you pick up your yugata, tooth brush, etc.
The facilities are not well maintained. There was no security check or a staff at the entrance of the onsen, ended up a boy with 10-11 years old entered the ladies onsen.
This hotel seems to have lost its mojo. I think it might have been excellent in the 50s and 60s but today it’s a bit outdated and drab. The older staff do not speak any English some of the younger staff need to be called to translate. The room had no character but the view out the window was pretty nice. The saving grace was the dinner and breakfast buffet. The reason I stayed here was it was the only hotel near Kumamoto that had a room on a Saturday night. At $350 I expected more.
