The Empress is convenient to boardwalk. It seems even the guests are all really friendly besides the hospitality of the staff. Happy place!!

Whenever I entertain someone who has never before been to NJ (yes, I know - I’m often shocked by this as well) then I give them a driving tour and then we stay at the Empress Hotel. It’s a slice of old-school Asbury Park that I enjoy showing off, along with the Boardwalk, Convention Hall, and some of THE best restaurants anywhere - full stop. The Empress is comfortable, clean, affordable, free parking is behind the building, it’s located right across from the Boardwalk/beach, and the staff are absolutely wonderful. My friend from the Seattle area arrived early and we were able to check-in several hours early so she could refresh herself before we painted the town. My original reservation was for two nights but when my friend needed to leave a day early then I was only charged for one night. Staff were very friendly and accommodating - I will continue to take folx to the Empress to give them a taste of what Jersey has to offer. Stay here - or I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse! 🐴

We chose the hotel originaly for location to our venue for a wedding and reviews online. However, the 1st night we found bugs in our bed and had to move at 1am. Unfortunatley the night staff didn't do anything extra to help with the move and other than no bed bugs the room was more filthy in all other areas(floor, bathroom). The day shift staff did try to make things right by reimbursing 1 night of our stay, but the 3 stars remain.

Loved having the balcony view to the pool. Rooms need to be updated, especially bathrooms. But hotel was mostly clean.

There was a closed bar in the lobby. Staff was friendly. The accommodations are old and outdated, but clean. Bathroom was very small with no counter space and a leaking toilet. There is a bar next door which plays loud music and is the main attraction for the hotel. If you want to sleep before 2 AM don’t stay here.

I like the boardwalk was across the street. Nightlife at hotel night club was great too. First time coming to Asbury Park NJ my vacation was great and will definitely being coming back in the future. Room was clean, everyday I was given new towels. I was a solo traveler it was very nice to have them do that. Great service all together nothing bad to report only good stuff. Please try it for yourself you will have a blast. Can't wait to come back in the future.
