Delicious food and drinks from the traditional Cretan cuisine are served here on request. Located at the foot of the holy mountain Juchtas, Archanes is one of the most charming villages in Crete. If you want to live quietly and avoid the bustling coastal towns of the east, this is the place for you. From here you can visit the archaeological site without having to travel too far. The village has a long history, important archaeological sites and interesting architecture. The monasteries of Panagia, Agia Paraskevi and Agia Triada with their Byzantine frescoes are well worth seeing. In the village there are typical taverns and famous wine production places.
