The room included parking and breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good location for Ambleside and getting the boats to other parts of the lake. Lovely clean room, good bed and bedding. Breakfast was hot and cold buffet and very good as were the evening meals.

Unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. The weather was hot, and the room was even hotter. No A/C. Our view was an unsightly roof. The staff chided us for eating our own food even though we purchased beer to drink on the lovely lakeside patio. I accept the rule but it set a negative tone for our stay. The registration area is basically the bar but signage is bad so we had to ask several people just to find it. They still issue actual metal keys for the rooms…not key cards…not sure if this is quaint or horribly out of date.

Senior staff let this place down.

Location great and comfortable nights sleep, however room was unclean, with clumps of long hair in bath. Most disappointingly, the service was very much lacking. The hotel and bar areas seemed short staffed and those who wore casual clothing and appeared more senior had very little in the way of customer service skills - at times barely acknowledging customers. Those that could be commended were the younger staff, in particular those with the branded polo shirts, who were most customer friendly. Such a shame as with seemingly such little support from those in more senior positions and at times belittling behaviour and ‘teasing’, those more talented staff members will likely not be here for long.

Staff were very nice but essentially this is a pub with some rooms above it. The property doesn’t live up to the images on Expedia. It is situated on the lake and only 10 minutes walk from the town centre (not 3 minutes as stated) but the room was very small and overpriced imo. The pertinent question in any review is, would you stay in this property again? Unfortunately, I would not. The staff were very pleasant but overall I felt it was poor value for the price charged. One final thing to be aware of, check in was at the bar which was very busy when I arrived and anyone with mobility issues should avoid this property as the rooms are up narrow stairs.

Great hotel near Ambleside. Pros: As the name suggests, it's right at the edge of the lake - beautiful surroundings and a lovely beer garden overlooking the lake. The staff were all lovely; An easy walk into Ambleside village, and only 10-15 minutes drive to other villages such as Grasmere, Windermere and Bowness. Cons: room was comfortable, if a bit dated and even slightly neglected - un-filled screw holes, areas left poly filled but not sanded or painted etc. Decor probably not been updated in a while. Car park was a bit awkward. Breakfast wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. Nonetheless we enjoyed our stay immensely and would return.

Wateredge and the other properties under same management are not clearly delineated or described in Expedia's online info. Wateredge is a historic (cramped, uneven floors, tiny rooms) inn. the other properties are modern. Better advertising would have informed us and allowed us to choose better accommodations.

Great location right by the lake. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the check-in area was also the same place as the bar, which meant that it took a long time to get checked in as you had to wait in line with people who were ordering drinks. Otherwise the stay was nice.

We loved everything about our stay at the Wateredge Inn. The place is beautifully decorated, the room was quiet and cozy, parking was so easy and the food was just delicious. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our vacation. We will definitely be back in the future.
