About this property
Bright Tarn Lodge - Neaum Crag Woodland Estate
Bright Tarn: A Tranquil Woodland Retreat at the Gateway to Great Langdale - Discover Bright Tarn, a beautifully refurbished, dog-friendly wooden lodge nestled within the exclusive and peaceful Neaum Crag estate. Perfectly positioned near Skelwith Bridge, at the very gateway to the magnificent Great Langdale valley, this lodge is a true haven for relaxation and adventure.
Fresh from a complete transformation in late 2025, the lodge blends modern comfort with natural tranquillity. The owners have created a unique, Japanese-inspired interior, fostering an immediate sense of calm that complements the peaceful woodland setting.
Step inside the inviting living area, where comfortable sofas and a 40" Smart TV await. Patio doors open out to the woodland, framing leafy views through the trees towards the valley beyond. The brand-new, contemporary kitchen has been expertly designed with quality appliances and ample workspace, making self-catering a pleasure.
When it's time to rest, the lodge offers a comfortable double bedroom and a separate, cosy bunk room, perfectly suited for children. A crisp, modern shower room provides a refreshing start or end to your day.
Outside, the lodge truly shines. It occupies a superb, south-facing position within a clearing, soaking up the lovely Lakeland sunshine. The private patio, stylishly enclosed by Gabion stone cages, features a picnic bench for alfresco dining. On warmer days, a shadier seating area at the rear offers a cool alternative.
The Neaum Crag estate is one of the Lake District's best-kept secrets. It offers a wonderfully peaceful, low-key atmosphere set in natural woodland, yet remains perfectly central. As a guest, you'll enjoy access to the fantastic on-site leisure facilities (available March to October), including an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, and table tennis.
This is a paradise for walkers, with countless, wonderful trails starting directly from your front door- from gentle valley strolls to challenging high-fell routes. You can even tackle linear walks by taking advantage of the excellent Langdale bus service to bring you home.
A pleasant 13-minute stroll leads to the popular Talbot Bar and the renowned Chesters by the River, a café famous for its irresistible cakes. The bus also offers an easy, car-free option for visiting Ambleside, with its cinemas and the Armitt Museum.
Bright Tarn is a special place to recharge your batteries, whatever the season.
