Once the stronghold of the powerful Castellane family, the château has stood the test of time despite a turbulent past. Religious wars, love stories, family feuds, duels, and sieges still echo within the walls of this remarkable castle.



The château sits next to the village square that shares its name, derived from the Roman goddess Alemona. Surrounded by greenery, it remains one of the few well-preserved examples of the Louis XII style and is among the most beautiful in Haute-Provence.



Originally built by the Castellane family (1218–1718), it later became home to the Varages (1718–1839), then the Ripert-Montclar family (1839–1936). From 1946 to 1970, it hosted a holiday camp before returning to private ownership.



Today, the château is lived in year-round, and the owners will be delighted to welcome you.



Electricity is billed according to the amount used, as measured by a private meter. A reasonable consumption is included in the stay price. Any excess may incur additional charges.
