8/10 Good

We didn’t eat at the hotel. They have a very good self-serve area just off the registration area with Salas’s, soups, sandwiches, burritos, and baked goods that are reasonably priced.
This is a former Hyatt Regency that has recently been purchased by a new hotel group. I have dinged them a star because of their odd approach to performing upgrades. They have no vending or ice machines on floors 1-16, with ice on 17-20. They are replacing old machines with new, but (1) didn’t let us know when they were checking us in and (2) why remove the old until the new are there to install?
We Ubered, so I can’t opine on parking. The 10th floor hallway had an odd, musty smell, but our room smelled OK. The television was disappointing—it frequently showed “station not available, for all stations. I think the problem is too little bandwidth for the number of people watching in their rooms at one time.
They charge a $25 “resort fee” each night. That is a bit of a stretch—this is not a resort-caliber hotel. It’s a nice hotel, but the amenities do not justify the added fee.
We didn’t feel unsafe walking in the daytime, but know that the hotel is in a neighborhood that has homeless people. We walked back to the hotel from the train station at 8:30 at night and did not encounter any problems.
The staff were friendly and competent. We had a good experience overall. I’d rate it a 7.5 or 8 on a 1 to 10 scale.
