I was not allowed access to my hotel room due to a power outage after waiting in the lobby for over 45 minutes the managers Chara Blanch and Dan Stenz promised me a refund once the power came back “later that night or the next morning”. Dan Stenz raised his voice at me and walked away from me in the lobby area after I politely asked him if there was anything they could do since I had my confirmation and receipt on my phone. Chara Blanch apologized and said they were unable to do anything since the computers were down but sent me an email saying I would be refunded that day or the next morning. 3 days later I have not received a refund or heard anything from them. I had to book a different hotel for my stay. Wasted $230 and an hour of my time.

Excellent staff. Great food and cold beer. Unfortunately guest elevators were out of order. Use of staff elevator allowed guests to see how little the hotel management cares about the staff. Staff elevator cramped, dark, slow, had exposed wires in the ceiling. Access to staff area also showed hypocrisy of management with many large motivational signs posted about Teamwork, etc. along with many small signs threatening punishment for tardiness, eating from particular refrigerators, etc.

The elevator for guests is out of service. The restaurant and bar was dead, for the most part. The guests in a room either next door or across the hall were quite talkative, making me wonder just how soundproof any of the rooms are. I hope it's a quiet night, especially considering how few guests were in the restaurant and bar.

The good, the bad, & the ugly

Pros: The Staff was awesome, really accommodating, and super friendly. The rooms are very large, and the hotel overall is quiet. I never heard another guest or another room. I liked that I could stream Netflix and YouTube to the TV and the up/down work table was a very nice touch. Cons: The hotel is currently under construction and only 1 elevator was working. This led to long delays. Some of the construction craftsmanship is pretty sub-quality. Lots of mistakes and things were obviously slapped up quickly in order to make it "look" nice, but the finished work was sloppy. My room had a phone, but it wasn't plugged in, and I could not make any calls. The coffee machine was also not plugged in. Our A/C did not work well when we arrived, and the room was extremely hot. I had to ask the front desk twice to send someone to fix it, but once fixed, it worked nicely. The big yucks: There were so many dogs at this hotel and it was gross. People brought their dogs out to the pool area and none of the staff addressed this problem. The pool was cloudy with a sheen on the top. There were hairballs floating throughout. It was pretty nasty.

All of the Marriott renovations are clearly complete, because I found the room to be modern, updated, and squeaky clean. Would definitely stay there again.
