Motel 6 holds themselves blameless for mistakes

I didn't actually stay for my appointed reservation; my circumstances had changed, and I didn't need it anymore. I called into cancel my reservation and was told It was already cancelled. I proceeded with my weekend only to find I was still getting emails associated with my reservation. I called Motel 6 about this an no one was available to address my concerns. I was referred back to Hotels.com who took up a request for a refund for me, which was rejected. The reason It was rejected according to motels.com was that they had to remain consistent their policy on these matters. So it is their policy to inform their customers a reservation is cancelled, not cancel it and then charge them anyway? Neither Hotels.com or Motel 6 has provided me with a satisfactory answer to this. Needless I am extremely dissatisfied with entire experience. I would recommend all people avoid dealing with Motel 6 if this is how they choose to do business.

The check in experience after hours felt like going to a liquor store in a dangerous neighborhood. Also when we arrived, a cop was kicking out a homeless person for lingering around but we were tired of driving so we decided to stay and lock up before going to bed. Other than that the room itself was pretty clean and cozy.
