Beautiful...and friendly with great schnapps!

A very pretty cottage owned by a lovely couple (she speaks good English) who run a schnapps distillery and fruit juice smallholding. The kitchen was well equipped, with lots of fires to light if cold. Bedrooms all very comfortable but bring own bedding and towels! All bathrooms are downstairs but not a big problem, apart from creaky stairs in the night. Outside are fantastic views over the valley to rocky alpine mountains behind. We went summer skiing on the Dachstein glacier (an hour by car)and to the Hallstaten salt works - both trips were superb. The local village of Abtenau is 10 mins away with two good supermarkets. You can also arrange riding lessons just down the hill. Highly recommended and great value!
