Lovers of history will also want to visit Birr Castle and Nenagh Castle, both within 18 miles, while water-based activities, including boat trips, fishing and kayaking, are to be had on Lough Derg, less than 4 miles away. You’ll also want to lace up your walking boots and head out on the Lough Derg Way, passing along riverbanks, canals, forests and old roadways. Beautiful Killaloe is 25 miles away.
