Guatemala City Highlights Tour Half Day

by Gray Line Guatemala Duration 3h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $34

See the capital's sights of interest featuring historical buildings, a famous avenue, and even the local market. Along the way, visit the Constitution Plaza (Plaza de la Constitución), the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Supreme Court of Justice (Palacio de Justicia).

On this guided tour see Guatemala City, a metropolitan area of 4 million people, in a few hours. After leaving your hotel, take a drive along the Avenue of the Americas (Avenida Las Americas), one of the capital city's main streets. Continue to Berlin Plaza there are three pieces of concrete brought from Germany, these are original sections of the Berlin Wall and from here you can view part of the city and the landscape of the volcanoes.

We also pass by La Reforma, which was built inspired by the avenues of France for this reason various statues carved in stone, bronze and marble were brought from Italy. See the Yurrita Church, a private chapel of mixed Baroque style, with Romanesque and Byzantine elements. The church was built as a votive offering by Felipe Yurrita, a native of Arevalo, Castilla, Spain, to the Virgin of Our Lady of Sorrows, patron of that town, for favors received, in particular to have saved her life during the eruption of the volcano Santa Maria.

Pass by several significant buildings at Civic Center, such as the Supreme Court of Justice, City Hall, and the Bank of Guatemala—most of which were constructed during the '50s and '60s.

The mid-century architecture contrasts sharply with the Colonial architecture of Constitution Plaza and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Continue to the National Library before stopping at the exotic Central Market, a good place to purchase a variety of souvenirs including indigenous handicrafts, ceramics, and textiles.

At the end of the tour transfer back to your hotel.

At the nd of the tour you end up in Cayala. Stay there at the end of the city tour and enjoy the beauty, peaceful and great shops at great prices and great restaurants. Try Sr. Escobar for an elegant and delicious meal at a great price. A taxi can take you back to your hotel for a reasonable fare.
