From punk teenagers to musical superstars
Green Day was started when the band members were all still teenagers, but their talent quickly gained the attention of a label. They released their debut album in 1990, building a fan base in the local punk scene. After the success of their third album, Dookie, Green Day was invited to perform at Lollapalooza and Woodstock. Dookie also secured the band their first Grammy Award. Green Day finally hit number one on the charts with the release of their rock opera, American Idiot. The album won them the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and the Viewer's Choice Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. American Idiot went on to be adapted into a musical, opening at the St. James Theatre on Broadway in 2010.
“Hella Mega” Stadium Tour 2021
In 2020, Green Day scheduled a tour, joined by Weezer and Fall Out Boy. Due to circumstances beyond their control, the tour was rescheduled for summer of 2021. The Hella Mega stadium tour, kicked off on March 16 in Asia and made stops across Europe and North America. The North America leg started in Seattle and finished in Philadelphia. Along with the tour, Green Day released a new song, “Father of All…” which comes from their album of the same name. Green Day has been off the road since their Revolution Radio tour came to an end in November 2017, and fans are eager to see them back on tour and teamed up with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.
