Nestled between the cities of Newark and Elizabeth NJ on the Jersey Turnpike (I-95) is Newark International Airport (EWR).

This airport has daily flights to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) and typical flight times are nearly eight hours. Upon landing, your easiest transport method out of the airport to Amsterdam’s city center is via train service located on Terminal 9 that is available on 10-minute intervals.

If your visit to the Van Gogh museum downs your spirits, a trip to the Tulip Museum with its rich history and flower paintings should perk you right up. If that does not seem to work, perhaps a self-guided tour, The Heineken Experience, at the Heineken breweries should do the trick.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Canals of Amsterdam blend functional medieval architecture with the serenity of the surrounding water. Hotels around the Canal and downtown Amsterdam are favorite dwelling places amongst tourists.

Amsterdam has an efficient public transport system and transfer from Schiphol to Leidseplein and Museumplein is only a 30-minute ride. Private transfer services are also readily available.
