Sydney Airport (SYD) is the major airline hub for Sydney, Australia. Not far from the M5 and M1, the airport is off Marsh Street where it becomes Airport Drive. From the airport, you can travel to many interesting and unique destinations, including Cairns International Airport (CNS).
Your flight from Sydney to CNS will take you approximately three hours nonstop. Once you’ve arrived, there are bus service, car and taxi service, and shuttle service options to get you to your accommodations.
If you want to see rare and exotic creatures, there are several excellent destinations on the Great Barrier Reef. You can visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, take walks in the rainforest in Daintree National Park or see the animals featured in the Cairns Wildlife Dome.
If you like shopping, there is The Pier, Cairns Central and Cairns Night Markets. If you are a wine connoisseur, enjoy tasting events at Murdering Point Winery or Golden Pride Wineries.
The Great Barrier Reef enjoys a tropical climate, which means it is warm and often wet. In fact, you could describe Cairns seasons as either wet or dry. So if you want to stay dry during all of the outdoor adventures the Great Barrier Reef has to offer, plan your vacation during the dry season (April through September). The water will be warm, the weather will be drier and you will be able to ski, shop or fish to your heart’s content.
