You also have the option to take a shuttle or taxi, as well as park on or near the airport. Typical flight times are almost four hours to Portland International (PDX) Airport. When you arrive, the MAX light rail train can get you into downtown Portland in about 40 minutes. Taxis, shuttles and rental cars are also available.
Spending time outside is a favorite pastime of visitors to Portland. The City of Roses is home to places like Washington Park. Here you can check out the International Rose Test Garden as well as Japanese gardens, and the Oregon Zoo is nearby as well. The Tom McCall Waterfront Park reaches along the edge of the Willamette River. Here you can check out the Oregon Maritime Center and Museum, or make a run into the Salmon Street Springs Fountain. Enjoy a meal or specialty shopping at RiverPlace.
Summertime is a popular time to visit because of the warm weather, and all the available outdoor activities. If you are interested in winter sports, a trip in the winter puts you in close proximity to Mount Hood. Regardless of when you visit, make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes and consider dressing in layers.
