Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) serves 20 airlines including British Airways and Hawaiian Airlines.

The airport is close to Bus Route 13, which connects indirectly to Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix. 44th street is a convenient throughway as it connects to the free sky train.

This airport is near Interstate H-1 and Liliuokalani Freeway. Buses run from there around the entire island.

Attractions

If you prefer a quiet beachside experience, Ala Moana beach is calmer than Waikiki. China Town is an enclave with restaurants, craft stalls and the 1922 vaudeville theater Hawaii Theater Center. Pali Lookout offers one of the most spectacular views in the region. It overlooks the Koolau Mountain Range.

Manoa is a meditation retreat ideal for whiling away silent hours, but every visit should feature some roaming of the neighboring islands of Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Seafood is, of course, a favorite for foodies, but the island serves up Western and European cuisine.

Honolulu International takes you straight to Waikiki Beach and the resort area. It is also possible to take the Route 19 bus to Hickam Field.

The region enjoys a tropical savannah climate, with a dry summer and mild winter. Waikiki Beach’s strip is a popular area for tourists to stay.
