LaGuardia (LGA) is a waterfront airport in Queens, New York. Like much of New York, LGA is highly accessible via public transit. Getting to downtown Charleston from Charleston AFB Municipal (CHS) is easy with the CARTA bus. From there, DASH (a free shuttle) services several popular destinations. Taxis and shuttles are located outside the baggage claim at the airport, and run from 5 a.m. to about 1 a.m., depending upon the last flight of the day.
Founded in 1670 over 100 years before the birth of the United States, Charleston is a romp through fascinating history. Explore former plantations, such as the Aiken-Rhett House Several, and the Charleston Museum. Military buffs will appreciate a tour of Fort Sumter and Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, which is located in Charleston Harbor.
Since this is a very small airport, be sure to have all your other travel arrangements made in advance. Winters in Charleston can be cold, ranging from the 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit; summers are humid and as hot as 90 degrees.
If you are heading to Folly Beach, the Charleston Beach Bus (CBB) offers friendly service directly to the shore.
