The flight from Mexico City International Airport (MEX) into Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) will land you just north of Beltway 8, near Humble, and less than a 30-minute drive from downtown Houston.
Once you rent a car and make the drive into Houston, you can spend a day or two browsing historical attractions like the Holocaust Museum and the Children's Museum. If you want to escape the big city, head to Memorial Park or Buffalo Bayou Park. For fun with the little ones, find the Zuma Fun Center. If you only have a short layover in Houston, Humble is minutes from IAH and is home to the Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens.
IAH is located right between Interstates 69 and 45. Take I-45 north if you want to visit Dallas or Fort Worth. I-45 south will take you to the Gulf of Mexico where you can visit coastal towns like Galveston. I-69 south is your direct route into the heart of Houston.
You can fly from MEX to IAH in approximately two hours. Once you arrive at IAH, collect your baggage and follow the rental car signs. You will take a shuttle to the Consolidated Rental Car Facility, where you can then select a rental agency.
