Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 20 miles west from downtown Los Angeles down the I-110/I-105; there is also public transit available and the LAX FlyAway shuttle from various parts of LA County. To Jacksonville International (JAX), flights usually last for just under five hours. Jacksonville airport is 14 miles down the I-95 away from downtown Jacksonville. Taxis can be found just outside the terminal building and there is a shuttle service available as well.
Jacksonville is a great place if you enjoy zoos and exotic animals. Take your family to either the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens or the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary and see more unique species of animal in one day than you'd ever thought possible. Besides wildlife, visitors can go to the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens with its acres upon acres of beautifully tended classical gardens. For lovers of hikes, the Little Talbot Island State Park offers miles of walking paths through the coastal habitat off the Florida coast.
Jacksonville's hotels are mostly found in the downtown area, though there are some resorts outside the city on the coast available. The weather in Florida is hot and humid, so travelers are advised to dress lightly. Be warned that hurricane season lasts from June until September.
