Located in Fort Myers, the airport is ideally situated for easy access to multiple attractions around Florida's Gulf Coast, including over 50 miles of pristine beaches and 150 golf courses.

Organized excursions to the headwaters of the Everglades via airboat highlight the diverse landscape and wildlife in the area. Spot wild alligators and sea turtles by visiting the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. This world-renown wildlife refuge is home to wetlands, white-sand beaches and mangrove forests.

In winter, this is one of the warmest areas of the United States with temperatures rarely below freezing. The height of the tourist season is February through April, after which visitor numbers drop. Summer temperatures spike so this is the time to take advantage of highly discounted room rates. Hurricane season is June to November, but these extreme weather events are rare.
