Flying into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) from Detroit takes you into an area just south of Seattle. Both Seattle and Tacoma offer business travelers and holidaymaker’s unique opportunities for sightseeing and things to do when in the city.
Once you pick up your rental car from the off-site facility, you can choose to take the 15-minute drive to south Seattle or the 25-minute drive to Tacoma. Reaching the heart of downtown Seattle takes closer to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Downtown is where you'll find the famous Pike Place Market, as well as the original Starbucks. You can walk along Elliot Bay or head up the steep hill for more restaurants like Etta’s or Anthony’s Pier 66, and shopping.
Parking is abundant in Seattle compared too many other big cities, but you should be aware of signs, as parking rules are strictly enforced. A car will get you to most of the places within, and just outside the city. Make sure to visit the Space Needle at Seattle Center, and consider a harbor tour to explore the area from Seattle's waterways.
In-air flight time from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to Seattle is just under four and a half hours. If connections are involved, the time may be a little longer.
