Chicago Ohare International (ORD) is a major international airport situated 17 miles northwest of the city of Chicago, and it can be reached via interstate routes 90, 290 and 294. Flight duration is between four and six hours to Nassau International (NAS), and in Nassau you will be near the main transportation route West Bay Street.

Attractions and tips

Atlantis is a complex that is a main tourist attraction in Nassau and is comprised of an aquarium, a luxury hotel, waterpark and entertainment complex, all with a marine themed presentation. Cable Beach is a favorite for visitors and locals because of its beautiful blue waters and fine sandy beach. The Downtown Area and Bay Street provide great duty-free shopping with numerous shops, restaurants and street vendors along with a Pirate Museum. Paradise Island is where Atlantis is situated, as well as several other luxury resort hotels and wealthy private homes. The Nassau Straw Market is a collection of shops and street vendors filled with local craftsmen who create objects like hats, mats, baskets and wood carvings, most of which are made from native palm trees.

It is warm all year round in Nassau, although the months of May through September are a few degrees warmer, consistently averaging in the mid-80s. That same timeframe represents the wettest season in Nassau, with extremely heavy rainfall regularly, although other months of the year can also be said to be very rainy.
