About Winnipeg Jets

If you’re looking for cheap tickets to enjoy a Winnipeg Jets game, you’ve come to the right place! Get your cheap Winnipeg Jets tickets here and head to the ice rink to see one of the most dynamic, intense, and action-packed teams in the NHL. A Winnipeg Jets game is always a wildly entertaining time!

The Original Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have one of the most dynamic histories in all of the National Hockey League. The city of Winnipeg was originally granted a professional hockey team in 1971 under the World Hockey Association. Along with several other WHA teams, they were absorbed into the NHL in 1979. The team was eventually sold off to an American businessman who moved the team to the city of Phoenix and renaming them the Phoenix Coyotes (today known as the Arizona Coyotes). The city of Winnipeg would not get another professional hockey team until 2011 when the NHL relocated the Atlanta Trashers.

Relocating to Winnipeg

Prior to the 2011-2012 season, True North Sports & Entertainment bought the team and relocated the franchise from Atlanta to Winnipeg at the Bell MTS Place. Compared to Atlanta, Winnipeg was much more excited about the team and season tickets sold out within minutes. The Jets first home game was against the Montreal Canadiens and they played in front of a sold-out arena, with the average ticket price being well over $1,000. Initially the Jets played within the Southeast Division, but after the 2013 realignment they became members of the Central Division within the Western Conference. In 2015 the Jets qualified for their first playoff appearance since the team was relocated to Winnipeg. In their first playoff appearance as the Jets, they were swept in four games by the Anaheim Ducks. The following season they failed to qualify for the playoffs, but by some saving grace they were granted the second overall pick in the 2016 draft where they picked right winger Patrik Laine. Under his leadership the Jets made it to the playoffs for the next two seasons, with many fans hoping he guides them to their first Cup victory!

While the team has yet to secure any division titles or championships, fans remain optimistic especially since the Jets’ appearance in several recent Stanley Cup playoffs. World class players such as Ilya Kovalchuk, Bryan Little, Vyacheslav Kozlov, and many others have all played for the Jets. Currently, you can see top players like team captain Blake Wheeler, top scorer Patrik Laine, and goalie Connor Hellebuyck.

Must See Matchups

Due to their infancy in the league, the Winnipeg Jets do not have many rivals. While they historically may not have any team that they go up head to head with every season, there are a few teams that make watching the Winnipeg Jets even more exciting! Among them include the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators, and the Vegas Golden Knights. The Flames and Oilers rivalry stems in the three all being Canadian based teams. The rivalries with the Predators and Golden Knights are much deeper, as both teams have eliminated the Jets in the playoffs in recent years. No matter who the opponent, seeing a Jets game is a memory that you are not going to forget.

Fans turn out in the thousands for Winnipeg Jets games, so make sure you secure the best cheap seats possible before they sell out. When looking at great tickets, check to see if it is a “Winnipeg Whiteout” day: a game where all fans wear white. Getting your cheap Jets tickets early means that you will secure the best seats in the arena and will be up close and personal to all the intensity that an NHL game will showcase!
