Making destruction into an art
The Who was born in London in 1964, working hard to make a name on the local scene. They focused on creating an energetic, if slightly erratic, stage performance, complete with crowd surfing, drumstick tricks, and Townshend's "the Bird Man" stance. Their live shows launched to a whole new level when Townshend accidentally smacked his guitar head off – then very intentionally destroyed the rest of the guitar in a fit of anger. The Who's auto-destructive live shows became famous. Their debut album was released in 1965, and four years later they were big enough to perform at the inaugural Woodstock concert. While The Who continued to release hit albums, the relationships inside the band began to deteriorate, and in 1983 the musicians parted ways. It was over a decade later that The Who reunited and began touring again, and it wasn't until 2006 that they released a new album.
The Who 2022 Tour
The legendary band went back on tour in 2022 for shows in North America and even the UK. After years off from performing, the band decided to come back with the Who Hits Back tour, starting off in April. The band performed in Tampa, Dallas, Boston and more top cities around the country until May. In the summer, The Who went to the UK putting on shows in Manchester, London, and other cities throughout. In the fall, the band went back to the US to performer their last few shows.
