From Auckland to Hollywood
Hailing from New Zealand, The Naked and Famous started in 2007 when guitarist Thom Powers and keyboardist Alisa Xayalith began collaborating on a few EPs. After the EPs, The Naked and Famous added several more members, rounding out the band. The Naked and Famous released their debut album, Passive Me, Aggressive You, in 2010, quickly catching the attention of the music industry around the world. They won several New Zealand Music Awards, were finalists in the BBC Sound of 2011 poll, and played for over 200 audiences around the world. In 2012 they relocated to Los Angeles. Their music has been used in commercials, films, and TV shows, including Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, and The Vampire Diaries.
