About Shania Twain

Arguably one of the most iconic female country singers of her time, Shania Twain has powerhouse vocals like no other. With dedicated fans around the world, you do not want to wait to get your Shania Twain tickets, they are going to sell out fast!

Where it All Began

On August 28, 1965, Eilleen Regina Edwards was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She began performing as young as eight years old after her family noticed her talents. Her mother had remarried a man named Jerry Twain when she was six. However, years later her parents were killed in a car accident, putting her music career on hold to raise her siblings until they were old enough to take care of themselves. In 1991 Eilleen changed her name to Shania Twain when she signed a contract with Mercury Nashville. 'Shania' means "I'm on my way" in Ojibwa, so it was only fitting to change it before her first album.

Making Her Mark

Twain's timeless music has been captivating audiences from the beginning of her career. You'll most likely recognize her most famous hits like "You're Still the One," "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" because they've remained popular since their release in 1997. Her biggest hit, "Love Gets Me Every Time" was the first country single to spend five weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard's country chart since Dolly Parton in 1977. Twain explains that her early exposure to Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton all had a hand in influencing her country-pop vocal style, as well as her writing. She has received many awards throughout her career which has earned her titles like "the Queen of Country Pop." She has earned five American Music Awards, six Big Country Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards and five Grammys, to name just a few of her accomplishments.

Rebranding

Twain loved the spotlight. You couldn't find any cheap tickets back in her prime - she was incredibly popular. In 2004, she retired from performing due to a weak voice and moved to Switzerland. She would later discover this was cause by lesions on her vocal cords called dysphonia. Once it was treated, she was able to return to the stage for her farewell tour in 2015. But Twain wasn't always the confident performer you know her as today. In her memoir, "From This Moment On," she admitted she had such bad stage fright in school that she accidentally wet her pants. She covered it up by spilling a glass of water, but it's safe to say the star has come a long way since then.
